Hardscrabble

The log cabin home of President Ulysses S. Grant, built by his own hand as a wedding gift for his bride prior to the Civil War. Mrs. Grant named the structure "Hardscrabble" due to it's lack of comfort and the unforgiving lifestyle imposed on its occupants.
